Living in Bremen, Georgia
Bremen is a former railroad junction just north of I-20 on the Haralson-Carroll county line. Most of the city is in Haralson County and part is in Carroll County, and the city has its own school district, Bremen City Schools.
Why Choose Bremen?
The City of Bremen's history says the town of Kramer was incorporated on September 5, 1883, and given the name Bremen, after the city of Bremen, Germany. Growth followed when the Chattanooga, Rome and Columbus Railroad crossed the Georgia Pacific line here, and factories along the tracks made men's suits; the city says it grew into the largest town in Haralson County.
Two-county tax check: most of Bremen is in Haralson County and part is in Carroll County, and the city sets a separate rate for each side. In a 2024 press release, the City of Bremen proposed 4.837 mills for the Haralson County portion and 9.36 mills for the Carroll County portion, citing a smaller share of local option sales tax on the Carroll side. Check the current city rate and the parcel in the right county's assessor records before you compare homes.
Bremen City Schools is a separate school district from Carroll County Schools and Haralson County Schools (NCES district ID 1300510). A Bremen mailing address does not by itself mean a home is inside the city limits, so confirm the district for any address.
